Here we have our collection of Cultural Operations videos we have shot over the course of the season (so far). You will find a number of different types of machinery in service at different times of the year. We will be adding to this page often (especially as we become more proficient with the equipment), so be sure to check back soon!
If there is something you would like to see added to the page, please let us know!
Loaders in operation stacking and moving trees to a wood chipping station. The chipped wood is then delivered to energy plants for use in generating electricity...a far better practice than burning old orchards as was done years ago.
A longer look at equipment working together to complete chipping operations at one of old orchards. We typically try to keep trees productive for 20 years and then schedule them for removal and replanting. This block of ground will be converted to a drip irrigation system and planted in early 2014.
A CAT D10 at work in a recently levelled block of land. This operation helps set a solid foundation for future plantings.
Throwing back berms during winter as a means of mechanical weed supression and disease vector management
Another view of the throw-back operation
Jackson Farms designed and constructed mechanical weed management system. We have found this system to be far more efficient and cost effective than superheating (fire) weed management, or passive control systems (doing nothing).
Another view of the cultivator in action. A four-wheel drive tractor greatly enhances the stability of the operation.
Last video of the cultivator system...for now :D
